The origin of King Shepherd dates back to 1990s. Famous dog breeders from America Shelly Watts-Cross, and David Turkheime created the breed which is a cross breed blend of Shiloh Shepherd, German shepherd and Pyrenees. Followed by which was launched an official dog breed club in 1995. These King Shepherds are characterized in the herding group. They are larger in size and volume from the German shepherds weighing around 100-150 pounds and height nearly 29-32 inches tall.
A part from its solid muscular build these dogs are confident possessing none of the traits such as nervousness or shyness. Like it is said “A dog is a man’s best friend” these shepherds can be said as best friends for their eager desire to please the owner faithfully. These dogs have been studied upon and have been said to be smarter than many other dogs which makes it easier to train them. Training comes easy to these dogs for they are keen to learn and like being challenged. Possessing plenty of stamina comes as a bonus with their obedience. They possess a life span of 10-15 years and can have colors as Sable, black saddle with tan, gold, cream, tan or silver markings.
It’s a Keeper
King shepherd like its name is the king and knows how to protect its territory. These breeds are famous for their protective skills. They have been widely found as sheepherders, guards or watchdogs for they are naturally courageous, showing strength and hardiness making them fearless protectors. Pet lovers are usually concerned about their pets being unsafe for the children or for that matter the family as whole, but these shepherds have shown traits of being friendly to other animals and good companions to children and family. They are family dogs and tend to be treated as family too. They seem to be enticed by long walks and run, accompanied by a friend.
With such loving and pleasing characteristics these dogs also require care and family like treatment. Their furry body is weather resistant and should be brushed on and bathed when needed. Unlike other breeds of dog they are not used to of being in closed pack spaces or apartments. They seek larger grounds like back yards or lawns to make themselves at home. They possess too much energy and should be taken on walks on regular basis or let them participate in some training to keep them on track or else they can be restless and wild which is their way of expressing boredom.
Dogs are undoubtedly a man’s best friend, such love and care can only be understood by the one who possess one. They become part of the family and bring a lively atmosphere to the home. These creatures just know how to love, please, guard and care. Even in their short life of 10 to 15 years as compared to us humans these cross breeds become part of the family.
